Halo 5: Guardians is one of the biggest video game releases of the year and both developer 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft are trying to show off as much content as possible to both long-term fans and newcomers.

A new video coming out of PAX Prime is allowing gamers to take a look at how the Slayer mode, one of the most popular in the history of the franchise, looks in action.

The rules of the experience remain the same, but Halo 5: Guardians introduces a lot of major tweaks to the Spartan powers and abilities, giving them more options when it comes to both movement across levels and to how they use weapons to take out enemies.

Slayer will be one of the important elements of the multiplayer experience for the first-person shooter, alongside Warzone and Arena.

For all the modes, 343 Industries is trying to create a very clear character for each of them, making it easy for gamers to find one that they love and return to in the long term.

Halo 5: Guardians also offers new images from the campaign

A set of screenshots allows gamers to take a look at the single-player level that was first shown during E3 2014, offering a set of new angles and a bigger focus on the enemies that gamers will be able to take out.

The campaign of Halo 5: Guardians is centered on Master Chief and Agent Locke, with 343 Industries offering two perspectives on the same set of events.

The studio has not given clear information on the events that will set the story in motion, but the Hunt the Truth audio episodes suggest that a faction inside ONI is framing the protagonist for a series of events in order to hide a wider conspiracy.

For the first time in the history of the series, gamers will be able to play the entire campaign cooperatively.

343 Industries has already explained that each character that can be controlled has been designed to have a clear personality and fans will be able to get more details about them through other products associated with the universe, from comic books to novels.

Halo 5: Guardians is only offered on the Xbox One and arrives on October 27.
