14 DAY TRIAL // OurMine, the three-man team of Saudi hackers, has made another high-profile victim, as the group has managed to access the Quora account of Sundar Pichai, Google's CEO, and then cross-post to his Twitter account.
The incident took place late Sunday night (US timezones), and the hackers managed to cross-post three messages from Pichai's Quora account to his Twitter profile before being detected, reported, and losing their access.
The hackers didn't post profanities or a social message, but only short texts, as they seemed to be testing their access.
Group hacked four other famous tech CEOs
In the weeks before accessing Pichai's Quora account, the group also hacked Mark Zuckerberg's Pinterest and Twitter accounts; former Twitter CEO Dick Costolo's Pinterest account (and cross-posted to Twitter); Twitter, Blogger, and Medium co-founder Ev Williams' Twitter account; and Spotify CEO Daniel Ek's Twitter account.
Before targeting the high-tech elite, OurMine has been hacking celebrity accounts, making victims such as Deadmau5, David Guetta, Channing Tatum, and Pewdiepie.
Despite their pranks, OurMine is not to be underestimated, as the group has been known to carry out malicious attacks through which they steal a website's database. Last year, Akamai warned companies that OurMine was involved in DDoS extortion schemes.
Group is advertising their hacking services
Furthermore, the group recently launched a website through which it promotes and sells its hacking skills for around $5,000. The hackers previously bragged about making at least $16,500 from their latest endeavor.
As for Pichai's Quora and Twitter accounts, both have been cleaned and restored, but you can view one of the deleted tweets via this Google cache entry.
The hackers have not revealed how they hacked Pichai's account, but they previously claimed they hacked into Zuckerberg's account using data leaked via the LinkedIn 2012 breach that recently resurfaced with a bang.
