14 DAY TRIAL // The developers of the famous GTK+ GUI (Graphical User Interface) toolkit are hard at work these days preparing for the final release of the GTK+ 3.18 software, which will be distributed as part of the GNOME 3.18 desktop environment.
The seventh milestone towards GTK+ 3.18 has been released today, technical version number 3.17.7, which will be available for testing as part of the first Beta build of GNOME 3.18, due for release later today, August 19, 2015.
According to the internal release notes, which we've attached at the end of the article for reference, GTK+ 3.17.7 comes with Alpha support in the foreground color in GtkCellRendererText, support for using a GListModel in GtkFlowBox, as well as support for using CSS padding from the theme and support for top margins in GtkTextView.
The HighContrast theme has been improved, CSD (Client-side Decorations) resize have been added for all edges and corners of the OS X operating system, and support for touchpad gesture events has been added for both the next-generation Wayland display server and the GDK (GIMP Drawing Kit) library.
Multiple bugs have been fixed in GTK+ 3.17.7
Besides the new features mentioned above, there are multiple bugfixes in GTK+ 3.17.7, such as support for using the g_get_prgname() function to get the xdg_surface.set_app_id string in Wayland, transition optimizations for the popover, and support for calculating the screen's physical size for Wayland.
Moreover, GTK+ now avoids the usage of show_all on rows, addresses a build issue with gtk/gtkcsstypesprivate.h, removes underlined labels from GtkLinkButton's context menu, adds missing set_top_margin function to the text view widget, and repairs an issue with GtkFileChooser.
