Triumph International is no stranger to coming up with unique bras for Japan, from the one that can transform into a shopping bag to help you carry your groceries, to the brassiere that comes with a solar panel – just in case. This time, the company has created an even odder item, which actually allows the wearer to grow rice in it, while also coming complete with a pair of boxer shorts with sewn-in gardening gloves, as CNet can confirm.

If this sounds a bit too “exotic” for your taste, then it probably is. It’s also not for sale and, so far, only one such bra has been created. Still, be that as it may, it is actually ideal for a farmer’s girl, especially since it also has included straps with mirrors and medal pieces that scare off potential birds looking to feed on the rice crop. The bra is not complete without the boxer shorts, which have a special belt and sewn-in gloves. In short, the My Tanbo Bra comes with everything a girl needs in order to start her own crop, as small as it might be at first.

“Replete with agricultural symbolism, My Tanbo Bra has cups that join to form a rice planter. The bra pads themselves are also arm coverings in disguise, so you won’t get sunburned when you’re toiling away in the fields. The bra straps feature shiny discs to ward off grain-thieving sparrows. So it’s not completely useless. The idea is that you take the bra off, put the two halves of the planter together and start your little rice crop. All you need is, er, adequate seed,” CNet writes of the bra.

“That’s where the belt worn around the waist comes in. It’s actually a length of water hose, on which you can sling some tubes to store the rice seedlings. Also hanging from the belt: a pouch of earth. They think of everything! If you get your hands dirty, so to speak, you can wipe them on a pair of gloves sewn into boxer shorts that are part of the package; the gloves have the characters for ‘abundant harvest’ emblazoned on them,” the same e-zine goes on to say.

What’s more, the shorts are actually quite trendy and resemble the vintage-inspired underwear now so hot with countless celebrities – so hot, they even wear it as outerwear, especially for photoshoots and on music videos. The advantage of the My Tanbo Bra is that it’s also useful – other than in the traditional way of offering support, volume and better definition. It is, in fact, like a small garden whose individual pieces act as underwear – whether any woman would actually rock a garden for a fashion statement remains highly debatable.
