Only 999 units of the feature phone will be made available

It's pretty clear by now that Nokia stole the show at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) trade fair, but that's probably because Samsung did not reveal its new Galaxy S flagship.

Nevertheless, at least one company has decided to ride the waves of hype and announced a “Nokia 3310 killer” that will sell for no less than $3,000.

Considering that we're talking about a feature phone, the amount customers have to pay to own one seems outrageous. Not to mention that the Nokia 3310 will sell for just €49 outright.

However, Gresso Meridian is a luxury phone, which explains the high price. According to the Russian company, only 999 units will be made available for purchase, as each of these feature phones will take up to 18 hours to assemble.

Two versions of the Gresso Meridian will be sold online, an ultra-durable Titanium version with stainless steel keyboard, as well as a black PVD model with titanium body and an 18K yellow gold keyboard.

We forgot to mention that the cheaper version, the Titanium Edition, can be purchased for $3,000, while the Black Edition sells for no less than $5,000.

Spec-wise, the Gresso Meridian is nothing to be excited about, as the phone comes with 3-megapixel rear camera, as well as EDGE and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity. The feature phone offers dual-SIM support and 32GB of internal memory, which is quite remarkable.

Also, Gresso says the battery that powers the Meridian feature phone should provide up to 5.3 hours of talk time or up to 15 days of standby time, far from the numbers the new Nokia 3310 can achieve (up to 22 hours of talk time or up to a month of standby time).

Unfortunately, just like the new Nokia 3310, Gresso's Meridian feature phone won't work in the United States since it's only compatible with GSM 900/1800 MHz frequencies.
