Today, October 19, 2016, GParted and GParted Live developer Curtis Gedak proudly announced the release of the GParted 0.27.0 open-source partition editor software.

GParted 0.27.0 is here to replace the previous stable build, namely Gparted 0.26.1, which is currently used in numerous GNU/Linux distributions by default, and adds a bunch of new features, starting with automatic detection of GRUB2 core.img files. Moreover, GParted 0.27.0 addresses an issue with the Mount Point column on OpenSuSE OSes.

It also looks like GParted will now exit when it's closed before the initial load is complete, instead of hanging and becoming unresponsive. No dependencies have been removed or added in GParted 0.27.0, but there are a bunch of issues that got resolved, which means that the software should be more reliable and stable.

Bugs fixed in GParted 0.27.0

Looking at the bugs fixed in the GParted 0.27.0 maintenance release, which were reported by users since the GParted 0.26.1 update, we can notice an issue with the sscanf modifier, display of usage of active encrypted swap, and missing file system usage when the tools use alternative blk dev names.

Furthermore, duplicate mounts are no longer displayed for unmounted encrypted filesystems, GParted's graphical user interface should no longer become unresponsive when a gpart data rescue operation is running, GParted now also shows extended partitions when counting active partitions, and language headers were added to po files.

A bunch of language translations have been updated for GParted 0.27.0, whose sources are available for download right now via our website. More details can be found in the changelog attached below. We recommend all OS vendors to update the GParted (GNOME Partition Editor) software in the stable repositories of their GNU/Linux distributions as soon as possible. It's already available in the Arch Linux repos!
