14 DAY TRIAL // HTC has announced today that a Solar Red variant of its HTC U11 smartphone is available for pre-order from select carriers after it teased on Twitter over the past few days.
The HTC U11 Solar Red variant of the Android phone is here to accompany the existing Brilliant Black, Amazing Silver, and Sapphire Blue flavors that the Taiwanese consumer electronics giant is offering on its online store since the launch of the device earlier this month. An Ice White HTC U11 variant should also be available.
"The liquid glass surface is crafted to impress using Optical Spectrum Hybrid Deposition. By layering highly-refractive precious minerals across the phone’s back cover, we’ve created stunningly vivid new colors that transform light with every movement you make," says HTC on the product's web page.
Shipping with Google's Android 7.1 (Nougat) mobile operating system the new HTC U11 series is a 5.5-inch (1440 x 2560) smartphone that features a Super LCD5 capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and it's powered by a Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset.
The device sports an Octa-core (4x2.45 GHz Kryo & 4x1.9 GHz Kryo) CPU, along with an Adreno 540 GPU, 4 GB RAM for the 64GB model and 6 GB RAM for the 128GB variant, a 12 MP front camera and a 16 MP, f/2.0, 1080p back camera, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, as well as built-in GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS.

In the U.S., AT&T, T‑Mobile, and Verizon customers can pre-order an unlocked HTC U11 Solar Red mobile phone since last night at 12:00 am EST (4:00 am GMT). The smartphone has a price tag of $649.00 USD and shipping appears to be free. Sprint customers should also be able to purchase the Solar Red HTC U11 in the coming weeks, but right the option is not available.
A 30-day "no questions asked" return policy is available for all online pre-orders in case you don't like the device, though it looks like HTC U11 already has some great reviews. The package contains the device, an HTC Rapid Charger 3.0 charger, an HTC Clear case, a USB Type-C cable, a USB-C Digital to 3.5mm Audio Jack adapter, the HTC USonic Adaptive earphones, a dust cloth, and the SIM tool.
