On September 7, we were informed by the developers of the recently introduced Apricity OS GNU/Linux distribution that a new Beta build was made available for download and testing.

Apricity OS 09.2015 Beta replaces the previous August release of the distro (08.2015 Beta) and promises to add many essential under-the-hood improvements, as well as updated software and security patches.

First of all, Apricity OS 09.2015 Beta includes all the latest updates from the upstream Arch Linux software repositories released as of September 7, 2015. Second of all, the new Beta build adds support for more hardware components.

The automated hardware configuration system and the functionality of the default dock have been improved, along with the support for UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) systems.

Additionally, there's now support for the Mozilla Firefox web browser in the ICE Site Specific Browser manager tool, and the Google Chrome web browser has been updated to version 45 (45.0.2454.85), which offers better resource utilization.

"We just wanted to let you know that Apricity OS 09.2015 Beta was released earlier today. Thanks so much for featuring us on your site," said Alex Gajewski from the Apricity OS Team in an email sent to Softpedia on September 7, 2015.

The Terminal now supports transparency

In addition to the enhancements mentioned above, Apricity OS 09.2015 Beta adds transparency support to the background of the Terminal app, improves filesystem permissions, and, at the request of many users, it offers smaller desktop icons by default.

Of course, numerous other small bugs have been addressed to provide users with an easy-to-use and enjoyable system. You can download the Apricity OS 09.2015 Beta 64-bit Live CD ISO image right now from Softpedia, but please try to keep in mind that it is a pre-release version, not suitable for production use.
