Softpedia was informed by Apricity OS developer Alex Gajewski that the Apricity OS 09.2016 release is now available for download and it's the first to come with a 32-bit version as well.

The biggest new feature of the Apricity OS 09.2016 updated ISO image is that it also comes with a 32-bit variant, which users can finally install on their very old PCs from ten years ago. Until today, Apricity OS was available only for 64-bit hardware, but due to popular demand, a 32-bit ISO is now ready for download for i686 platforms.

"We're very excited to announce the very first release of Apricity OS that includes a (development) 32-bit version, labeled i686 in the downloads section of this site," says Alex Gajewski. "In other news, Apricity is just a few days away from crossing the 200,000 downloads threshold! Thanks to everyone for all the support."

Apricity OS for 32-bit PCs still in development

As revealed by Alex Gajewski above, the 32-bit ISO images of the gorgeous Arch Linux-based Apricity OS distribution are still in development, which means that you should not get too excited and install them on your PCs if you want a rock-solid and stable experience. Also, it looks like Mozilla Firefox will be the default web browser.

Back to the Apricity OS 09.2016 update, it includes the newest Calamares 2.4.1 universal installer framework, which replaces the old 2.3 version and implements many attractive new features, such as improvements to the partition interfaces and timezone, as well as various EFI fixes.

Therefore, if you're using Apricity OS, we recommend that you update your installation right now using the "sudo pacman -Syu" command in a terminal emulator, or your favorite graphical package manager. Newcomers can also download the updated Apricity OS 09.2016 Live ISO images for 64-bit, and now 32-bit PCs, via our website.
