This month, Google brought many changes to its Google app for Android, including a Recent search interface for browsing history and customizable shortcuts, available for iOS as well. Recently, Google announced that it introduced a number of new tools for iOS users.

Google has now bundled its previously standalone keyboard app Gboard with the main iOS Search app, and added support for a plenitude of 3D Touch options, as well as a new Google search widget. Gboard was launched in May last year and it allows users to search for content on Google, share information, emojis, GIFs, directly from the keyboard. To set up Gboard on iPhones, users simply need to go to Google app settings and enable it from there.

Google also added a “Trending on Google” widget, which will provide users with information on important topics and breaking news from around the world. It will display live trending Google searches and users would simply need to use the 3D Touch on the app icon or swipe right on the home screen to access info. To install the widget, simply swipe right on the home screen, tap the Edit button on the bottom and add Trending on Google.

3D Touch was integrated throughout the app

Aside from this, new features for 3D Touch were added, including the option to hard press on the Google app icon and access the new Trending on Google widget. With one hard press, users can start searching for images or various content, and even launch an incognito page for browsing online.

3D Touch was also integrated throughout the app, so users can instantly start a new search, see search or map results or access cards in the feed. The new features already started rolling out to Google’s Search app on iOS.

Google will surely bring more features in the near future to its Google Search and Gboard apps on iOS and Android, since the tech giant constantly finds new ways to improve user experience.
