In an attempt to raise the hype around its upcoming Android Wear 2.0, Google has revealed some of the standalone apps that users will be able to take advantage of once the new operating system goes live.

So, Android Wear 2.0 will bring standalone apps, which will work on both Android and iOS smartphones paired with Wear devices. These apps will allow users to install, search and use them without having to leave the Wear device.

Among the standalone apps teased by Google, there's Glide, Foursquare, and Lifesum. All these apps will be available for download once Android Wear 2.0 gets released.

With Glide, users will be able to live broadcast directly from the watch face. In order to do that, you will only need to tap the contact shortcuts from the watch face and you'll be able to start a conversation immediately.

Glide standalone app for Android Wear 2.0 is supposed to make video messaging much simpler and speedier than ever, but you'll be the judge of that.

Foursquare is being used by those who travel a lot, as the application allows them to discover the best places to eat, drink and explore during their travels. On top of that, version 2.0 comes with a clean new canvas for rich notifications, which should provide users with a more immersive experience.

The standalone nature of the Android Wear 2.0 app will offer a big boost in search performance and app responsiveness so you spend less time staring at the screen and more time exploring the world around you,” said Kyle Fowler, Software Engineer at Foursquare.

Last but not least, Lifesum is a standalone Android Wear 2.0 application that helps users choose the perfect food for them, as well as improve their exercise and achieve various health goals. The upcoming version of Lifesum should allow users to track water and meals during the day much more easily and faster.

Obviously, these aren't the only standalone apps that will be available with Android Wear 2.0, but they're surely among the most important ones.

Google recently released Android Wear 2.0 developer preview 4 for those who want to create apps for the upcoming OS, which is expected to be released sometime in 2017.
