Google Maps is not only one of the main applications offered by the Mountain View-based giant but also one of the most popular with both Android and iOS users. This is one of the reasons Google pays extra attention to the app and makes sure it brings lots of features and updates.

Google is reportedly rolling out new features to its Google Maps app version 9.32.1 on Android, according to Android Police. One of the new features is Wi-Fi only, and it’s visible in the settings screen. It's worth knowing that it allows users to go offline, and it used to be titled offline areas, but now it comes with a new title and the switch.

If users activate the feature, they will be cut off from cellular data and will enter the screen for offline areas. Even so, Google Maps may still use a small amount of data during operation, as the quick reminder says. After the switch is turned on, a small bar appears across the top of the screen to inform users that the feature was activated.

Google might also introduce notifications for mass transit delays

The second feature that Google has introduced to Maps app for Android is notifications for mass transit delays. The new feature is addressed to users who often travel using public transportation. Google intends to roll out customizable notifications for mass transit delays, which could prove to be a very useful tool.

The feature will allow users to configure notifications and turn on disruption alerts. The feature has been reported by a user, but it didn’t work properly, which means that it might not go live just yet.

The new features are reportedly rolling out only to certain users who have Google Maps version 9.32.1 (APK) installed on their devices, and it’s unclear when Google will start global rollout.

Just recently, we’ve reported that Google introduced multiple destinations feature on its Android and iOS applications, for users to add multiple stops in between their starting point and destination.
