Google announced two new smartphones a few hours ago, during an event held in San Francisco and live streamed on YouTube. When it comes to the hardware inside the Pixel phones, Google didn’t hold many surprises. The presentation was mostly focused on Google-developed software, especially features integrated into the new phones.

The Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are already available for pre-order on Verizon, Google Store and Best Buy in the US. As we reported earlier, no other US mobile carrier will be offering the smartphones, except for Verizon.

During the presentation, Sabrina Ellis from the Pixel software team announced some features available on the two smartphones. She detailed information about the batteries inside Pixel smartphones and automatic updates that would install in the background and wouldn’t bother users. Obviously, only unlocked Google Pixel smartphones will get timely and automatic updates.

Care by Google will offer 24/7 service for Pixel smartphones

Another part of the presentation regarded live customer care for Pixel smartphone users. Owners of Pixel smartphones will receive 24/7 customer care for their devices.

Care by Google will be available in the form of phone or chat support, with a screen share function offered as well. This would certainly make solving issues faster, as tech support can view the screen and find the issue in a timely manner.

Users can access the section by opening the Settings app and tapping the Support tab on their Pixel phones. The Google expert will send a request for viewing the phone’s screen if necessary and users have the option to accept or decline the request.

It’s unclear at this point if Google will make the feature available in all the regions where Pixel and Pixel XL will be sold. However, Care by Google is expected to be available in the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, and Australia. Pre-orders for the two smartphones have already launched in these countries.
