It looks like the Pixel Chromebooks are not dead yet

Google is not done with the Pixel line of Chromebooks and has decided to bring it back with the launch of a new model named Pixelbook.

Despite the high quality of the Google Pixel notebooks, the company decided to end this line of products. They were way too expensive, and they never seemed to be enough of them in stock. You might think that these are mutually exclusive, but that’s not the case.

For a while, it looked like Google is done with the Pixel line, and people moved on. If anything, the entire Chromebook-type devices seem to have exited the spotlight, despite the fact that many hardware makers had excellent prices for them.

Pixelbook is not going to a cheap one

From the looks of it, the new Pixelbook from Google is going to be a 2-in-1 solution with a pen, which makes sense given the operating system used. With that in mind, the Pixelbook will arrive in three variants, which are 128GB ($1,199), 256GB ($1,399), and 512GB ($1,749).

The fact that the display can be separate from the keyboard and used as a tablet is a definite plus, although it usually means that it’s also going be a little bit heavy. The report on droid-life.com also mentions that the pen is not exactly cheap.

If you want to get that nice, pressure and tilt sensitive pen, you’re going to have to part ways with another $99. There is no reason to sugarcoat the prices. If Google wanted to save the Pixel line or to get some new customers, this is definitely not the way to do it.

There is no indication regarding the official launch, but it’s expected to arrive alongside the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL phone on October 4. And that is a launch date when people will be able to purchase it online.
