Google is known to be working on three new Pixel smartphones that are expected to launch later this year and it seems that one of them was just spotted on Geekbench. The benchmarked model carries the codename Taimen and appears to be running Android O.

Google Taimen runs the latest Android version, although the first developer preview for Android O was released several weeks ago. This shouldn’t come as a surprise considering that Google’s smartphones will be among the first to be announced with Android O on board and Google will surely test out the latest Android version on its Pixel phones. That being said, Pixel smartphones to arrive later this year will be manufactured by HTC.

Aside from the Android version, the benchmark listing also reveals that Google Taimen will feature 4GB of RAM and will run an octa-core CPU, clocked at the speed of 1.9GHz, possibly Qualcomm’s latest flagship, the Snapdragon 835 platform.

Taimen is the third Pixel 2 device to be announced this year

During the single-core test, Google Taimen managed to record a score of 1804, while the multi-core test resulted in a score of 6248. Aside from this, the listing doesn’t reveal anything else about the smartphone, but recent rumors say that Pixel 2 devices will be waterproof and will possibly feature an improved rear camera.

It’s also worth mentioning that Taimen is the third Pixel smartphone in this year’s lineup, the successor to last year’s Pixel carries the codename Muskie, while the larger Pixel 2 XL is currently known as Walleye.

Taimen is expected to feature a much larger display than the other two Pixel 2 smartphones, which is why some have said that it could actually be a tablet. This remains to be seen, but from what we can gather so far, Google’s Pixel 2 smartphones will surely compete against other flagships like the Galaxy S8, Moto Z2 Force and LG G6.
