The two apps should be released this summer

During this year’s Google I/O, the company announced Allo and Duo applications for messaging and video calls. The apps were quite well received, and Google representatives stated they would be released this summer. Now, it seems that they've gotten new icons in the Play Store.

At the time of the announcement in May, work on the two applications wasn’t quite finished at Google, and as it turns out, the company has just decided to change the app icons in the Store.

Initially, Allo had an app icon with red background while Duo came with a blue background. These were color schemes aimed at differentiating the apps from Google’s primary messaging application, Hangouts, which comes with a green background.

After Google I/O, the company launched the pre-release pages in the Store and posted the initial icons for each app. But it looks like Google has recently changed the app icons, just before making them available to all users.

Allo’s icon no longer comes with red tones. Instead, it has a blue background and text written in white. Duo’s icon has also undergone some changes and gotten its colors shifted from a blue background and white text to a white background and blue text.

Allo and Duo are expected to be launched this summer

Google announced that the applications would debut this summer, but until that happens, the company could actually make some other changes too.

Google’s Allo app is quite impressive, as it employs AI technology and offers lots of features to its users. It allows them to chat with friends using animated graphics, share media and even make online purchases.

Duo is more of a video call application that lets users place video calls or seamlessly switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data while in a call. It comes with some nice tweaks, and all calls are encrypted.
