The Chrome OS tablet comes with a detachable keyboard

During their annual Made by Google event, Google unveiled the new Pixel Slate a Chrome OS tablet with a detachable keyboard and with a fingerprint sensor within the power button.

Google's Pixel Slate comes in four hardware configurations, with the least powerful Slate featuring an Intel Celeron processor, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage for $599 going up to the most powerful Pixel Slate model which bundles an 8th Gen Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage for $1,599.

The Pixel Slate is a 7 mm thin and lightweight tablet with a Chrome OS operating system featuring Google's 12.3” 293 ppi and 6 million pixels Molecular Display touchscreen with Pixelbook Pen support and a 3000x2000 resolution.

Moreover, the Pixel Slate Chromebook also comes dual speakers on the front side for a premium audio experience and 2 microphones with improved noise cancellation for the best video call quality.

On the front face of the tablet, Google added an 8 MP Duo Cam with ƒ/1.9 aperture and wide field of view for capturing everyone in the room when making video calls, and an 8 MP camera with ƒ/1.8 aperture and autofocus on the back.

Furthermore, Google's Pixel Slate also comes with a Pixel Imprint Fingerprint Sensor embedded in the power button with a dedicated microcontroller designed for better on-device security, as well as a Titan C security chip which secures the operating system, your information, and your device passwords.

The battery has a capacity of 48Wh, and Google reports a use time of up to 10 hours and fast charging capabilities that help get up to 2 hours of usage time out of 15 minutes of charging.

It's also worth mentioning that the Pixel Slate Chromebook features 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 wireless connectivity coupled with two USB-C ports for charging and a 4K display output.

The Pixel Slate tablet will be available later this year after receiving approval from the FCC, CE, and Industry Canada regulators, when you will also be able to buy a Pixel Slate Keyboard for $199 and a Pixelbook Pen for $99, both sold separately.

Google also unveiled the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL flagships, with 5.5-inch and 6.3-inch OLED panels respectively, priced at $799 and $899, with a store release date of October 19 in the US and November 2 for Europe.
