Google’s Maps application is mostly used for finding new places to visit and setting routes for traveling to a certain destination. Google intends to make it easier for Maps users to find places nearby, especially restaurants and points of interest.

Google has just released a new update to its Maps application, one that would automatically translate local reviews in the language of the device. Users don’t have to adjust settings or change a thing, as the reviews are translated into the device’s language automatically.

The translated review will appear on top, while the review in the native language will appear just below it. Through this move, Maps users no longer need to copy and paste text into a translation app in order to get information about a certain place.

“So next time you find yourself in a faraway land wondering which ramen shop is the best or which gelato place is most authentic - just sit back, relax and let Google Maps and Search bridge the language barrier,” Google says.

The update is currently rolling out to all Maps users

The new automatic translation feature should arrive to Maps app for Android and iOS and will be made available to all users in a matter of days. The feature certainly makes it easier for users to find the best restaurant or place, but it does overcrowd the reviews section for some users who perhaps speak the language of the country that they’re visiting and don’t necessarily need translations. Sadly, there doesn’t seem to be a way to deactivate the automatic translation feature.

Google constantly updates its Maps app with new features, and just recently it released a tool for remembering route preferences, so users don’t need to set options every time they search for a certain route.

Google’s Maps app for iOS was also recently updated with a new Timeline feature that allows users to get information regarding their location at a certain time.
