Google has always been interested in providing security features to its users, and in order to achieve just that, the company has started rolling out spam calling protection. The new feature will be available to Nexus and Android One devices.

The Mountain View-based giant has announced in a Google+ post that it has started updating Nexus and Android One devices with a new feature that will warn users about potential spam callers. Users will be able to block and report the numbers so that they won't bother others.

In addition, users who already have Caller ID on their Nexus and Android One handsets won't need to make any adjustments, as spam protection will be available for them once the app updates to the latest version. The feature warns users of potential spam callers with a text in the incoming call screen.

Spam callers can be reported to Google

In a post on the company's support page, it is mentioned that the phone may send the call information to Google, which seems quite fitting, considering that users can report these spam callers.

Calls can be marked as spam, and users simply need to go to recent calls, tap on the one that they want to report as spam, and tap on block or report spam. They also have the option to report calls as spam. In addition, users can answer calls, block or report numbers that they suspect are spam after a specific text is displayed on the screen. They can also report mistakes if a call from someone was marked as spam.

Yesterday, Google announced that it would be rolling out a new feature supposed to allow users to send their accurate location to emergency services. The new feature is called Emergency Location Service and has already started rolling out in Europe. Google intends to make it available worldwide in the near future.
