Today, September 1, after announcing its new logo, Google has promoted the Chrome 45 web browser to the stable channel for all supported operating systems, including GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X.

Google Chrome 45.0.2454.85 replaces the 45.0.2454.78 Beta build that was available for download until today, and brings with it assorted improvements and bugfixes to all supported platforms, with the ultimate goal of keeping the web browser software stable and reliable at all times.

It is based on the freely distributed source code of the open-source Chromium 45.0.2454.85 web browser, updates the installed NPAPI Flash components used for watching Flash content, and adds several other new features that will be explained soon in a detailed article on the Chromium blog.

"The Chrome team is delighted to announce the promotion of Chrome 45 to the stable channel for Windows, Mac and Linux," says Vivian Zhi. "Chrome 45.0.2454.85 contains a number of fixes and improvements -- a list of changes is available in the log.  Watch out for upcoming Chrome and Chromium blog posts about new features and big efforts delivered in 45."

Chrome 45 includes 29 security fixes

As expected, the new Google Chrome release includes multiple security fixes, awarding developers and hackers who managed to discover them and report back to Google.
