Google recently held an event to announce its latest smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, the first handsets to come with Google Assistant integrated and the best camera ever included on a smartphone, or at least that’s what the tech giant says.

But Google left out announcements about another highly anticipated device - the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro, part of Google’s Project Tango. The smartphone was announced during Lenovo’s Tech World event in June, with the expected release date rumored to be sometime in August.

The Phab 2 Pro was also expected to be made available at retailers in the US in September. Well, September ended and the smartphone is nowhere to be found. However, Lenovo Australia did announce in September that the smartphone would be made available for purchase this fall, but without mentioning the exact date.

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro will be made available in November

Now, Clay Bavor, head of VR at Google, has stated that the Phab 2 Pro will be made available in November, according to CNET. It seems that the two companies waited until the end of fall to release the product to the market, although initially the arrival was expected this summer.

The Phab 2 Pro is expected to carry a price tag of $499 unlocked in the US. Lenovo Australia did say last month that the Phab 2 Pro would not be made available in the country and revealed some countries in the Asia Pacific region where it would arrive. Lenovo Phab 2 Pro won’t be compatible with Google’s recently announced Daydream View, though, as only the Pixel phones can be used with the headset.

Lenovo Phab 2 Pro incorporates Google’s Project Tango technology, a platform that helps the phone understand its location and build a three-dimensional map of indoor spaces. In order to do so, the smartphone is equipped with an abundance of sensors, a powerful Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 4,050mAh battery.
