Towards the end of the month we expect to see Google unveil not one but two Nexus devices, in the form of the Huawei Nexus and the LG-made Nexus 5. Both smartphones will launch in the wild with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on board.

But that’s probably not all Google is going to make public during their launching event. The folks at Android Police have uncovered something of interest while digging through the page source of the Google Play Store. And if you have the patience, you too can uncover the following body of text.

“You can’t add this phone unless it has the same Nexus Protect choice as other phones in your cart. You can update your choice or purchase this phone in the next order.”

For the time being, it’s not exactly clear what “Nexus Protect” will end up being, but Google will probably unveil a new protection plan specifically tailored for its lineup of Nexus devices, something in the vein of Apple Care or HTC’s “Uh Oh!” program.

Your next-gen Nexus could get better protection

It also appears that Google is setting up some limitations on the phones you might be looking to order. And it seems that these limitations will be based on Nexus Protect choices, so maybe if you are buying multiple devices at the same time, they all need to be registered with Nexus Protect. Still, you should be taking this information with a healthy dose of salt, as all we’ve been telling you is based on limited details about this new concept.

If Google does plan to unveil a protection plan for the Nexus family, we’ll probably hear more about it from the company itself during the September 29 event where the two phones are set to be launched.

The LG-made Nexus 5X is expected to make a debut into the wild with a FHD display, while the Huawei Nexus will take advantage of a more advanced QHD panel. Furthermore, the Nexus 5X will be powered by a Snapdragon 808 and 2GB of RAM, while the Huawei model will have a Snapdragon 810 and 3GB of RAM under the hood.
