14 DAY TRIAL // Google will take the wraps off the new Pixel models the next Wednesday, and thanks to a new leak, we have a closer look at the bigger model that’s also expected to be the most exciting of the two.
Evan Blass has published photos showing the Google Pixel XL 2 in both a case and without one, confirming once again that the search company won’t go for the same design approach as Samsung or Apple and launch a phone without any bezels.
Instead, the Google Pixel XL 2 will come with a more traditional design, including no curved edges, which is quite a good thing for those who are more into a flat screen like the one of the current Pixel.
The Pixel XL 2 will obviously bring some design improvements, such as smaller bezels, but overall, the look of the phone is not as dramatically refined as some people expected it to be.
It’s being rumored that the Pixel XL 2 will come with a squeeze feature similar to the one of the HTC U11, allowing users to launch certain features and apps, like the camera, by simply squeezing the edges of the phone.

Today’s leak also points to a new launcher coming to the updated Pixel lineup, including a Google search bar at the bottom of the screen. While the position of the search bar might not be the most convenient, Google will hopefully offer options to move it to a different part of the screen or to disable it completely, even though this latter option is highly unlikely.
An overall improved look with a redesigned calendar widget and weather forecast information is also expected to see daylight on the Pixel XL 2 lineup according to this leak.
Full details will be unveiled on Wednesday when Google will introduce both the Pixel XL 2 pictured here and the smaller model, which according to previous leaks could bring fewer improvements as compared to its bigger brother.
