14 DAY TRIAL // Google announced its latest smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, earlier this month and pre-orders for the two devices went live soon after that. With a high-end camera and sleek design, Pixel smartphones are among the most popular on the market.
It seems that some versions of Pixel phones are sold out and if customers do manage to place an order, shipping estimates reach 3 to 4 weeks. The company has issued a short statement on the delays.
“We’re thrilled to see the excitement for our new Pixel phones, and frankly pre-order demand has exceeded our expectations. We’re working to restock our inventory as soon as possible,” Google representatives stated recently.
Some Pixel models are temporarily out of stock at Verizon’s online store
9to5Google reported that the shipping department is running 3 weeks behind for units ordered via Project Fi. It seems that Pixel is available in Black and Silver with shipping in 3-4 weeks, while Pixel XL is available in silver 32GB with the same shipping period. It might take about a month before Google manages to get back on track with Pixel orders, but that remains to be seen.
Verizon also seems to have some availability issues with the Pixel XL, as both the 32 and 128GB variants are out of stock. Orders can still be placed, but shipments will arrive on November 11 or 12. Obviously, customers have the option to test their luck at brick and mortar Verizon stores, which are usually properly stocked with phones.
There has been some concern that customers would express moderate interest in Pixel phones, considering that they have a higher price point compared to previous Nexus models, but it seems that the $650 price didn’t discourage consumers.
In addition, Samsung recalled its Galaxy Note 7 smartphone from the market and some of its customers might have already jumped ship and went with Google’s latest offerings. Google already spent several million dollars on marketing the two smartphones, which surely contributed to their popularity.
