It's said to boast an even larger display than Pixel XL

It looks like Google is hard at work to bring Android fans even more reasons to love the mobile platform. After we reported yesterday about two possible smartphones that are now being developed by Google, internally known as “muskie” and “walleye,” we now have information about a third device.

While both “muskie” and “walleye” might be the sequels to the Pixel and Pixel XL, the new device, which features another weird codename, “taimen,” is a completely different smartphone.

Droid-life reports that they've known about the “taimen” since Google launched the Pixel and Pixel XL, but remained mum on the matter because they didn't have a second source to confirm it.

Now that the “taimen” codename has been confirmed via multiple sources, they are now more than happy to share the news with the world. Unfortunately, other than the fact that it exists, not much else is known about the unannounced smartphone.

A larger smartphone than the Pixel XL

The only thing related to its specs is the fact that it will come with a display larger than the “muskie” and “walleye.” Since these are sequels to the Pixel and Pixel XL, we can safely assume their displays will be of a least the same size.

Basically, “taimen” could boast a display larger than the Pixel XL, which sports a 5.5-inch panel. The third device now in development at Google is definitely a smartphone (or a phablet), not a tablet.

It's unclear whether or not Google will introduce all three smartphones at the same time, but at least two of them, “muskie” and “walleye” will be unveiled this fall. We're supposed to learn more about Google's Android plans in May at the Google I/O press conference.

Until then, let's hope more info on either of the three Google smartphones emerges online, so stay tuned for additional details on the matter.
