Google has been working hard on providing users with new features in its Maps app and it appears that the tech giant will soon allow all to check for parking availability at a certain destination point. The new feature has started showing up for a number of users on version 9.44 beta of Maps.

Google will start displaying parking availability as a small rounded P icon next to the route duration estimate, according to Android Police. The new icon will show up when users search for driving directions to a destination.

Needless to say, the feature is quite useful for those who live in big cities, as parking is quite limited there. In addition, the app will display three levels of parking availability, Limited, Medium and Easy. In order to mark a limited number of parking spots at the location, the app will display the P icon in the color red. Google Maps users can get a more descriptive explanation of the parking situation as the user drives towards their destination.

Parking availability is shown for shopping malls and airports

The app currently displays parking availability for places where many people gather on a daily basis, like shopping malls, airports, and other such locations. Not all Google Maps version 9.44 beta users are seeing this feature, so it’s difficult to say whether the new parking availability tool can be accessed in countries from all over the world or it is available only in select locations. Since Google is testing the feature, more information will surely surface soon.

Recently, Google Maps for Android and iOS received new ride services options. Google updated the app with a brand new look and the new feature displays a map instead of a list of ride services available in a certain area. This makes it easier for users to pick their preferred provider and get special offers or promotions.
