Street View is definitely not a new feature since it was bundled in Google Maps on Android devices for quite a while now. iOS users could also use it via Photo Sphere Camera app, but that ends today.

Google has just announced that Street View 2.0 is now a standalone application, which can be downloaded via Google Play Store and App Store.

The new Street View full app will replace Photo Sphere Camera application for iOS device, as well as Street View from Google Maps on Android phones.

According to Google, “with Google Maps Street View, you can explore the world at street level. See popular landmarks, check out places you want to visit in your hometown or far away, and take a virtual trip around the world.”

In order to take advantage of the new Street View application, Android users must open Google Maps, search for a place or long-press the map, and tap the Street View option.

Publish photo spheres and connect to spherical cameras

Exploring with Street View is pretty straightforward and allows users to browse Street View collections and content from Google Maps alongside photo spheres contributed from other users around the world.

Moreover, users can now publish photo spheres of their favorite places from around the globe to Google Maps almost instantly.

According to Google, the new Street View application also allows users to shoot photo spheres directly from their Android phone or iPhone or connect to spherical camera, including the Rich Theta S and NCTech iris360.

You can now download Street View on Google Maps for Android for free via Google Play store. The application should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 2.2 and up.

For iOS users, the application can be downloaded for free via App Store. It should work smoothly on all devices running iOS 7.0 or later.
