14 DAY TRIAL // Google released today a dedicated Podcasts app for devices running its Linux-based Android mobile operating system, simply called Google Podcasts.
There were rumors a few weeks ago that Google is planning to release a dedicated Android app for listening to audio podcasts, but it turns out they were true and you can now download the new Google Podcasts app from the Google Play store on your Android-powered smartphone or tablet.
"Google Podcasts is a new way for Android users to discover and listen to the world’s podcasts. You can subscribe to any show for free and download episodes for offline listening. All your listening is automatically synced across devices so you can pause on one device and resume on another with the Google Assistant," says Google.
Customized listening experience, Google Home support, and personalized recommendations
The Google Podcasts app promises to offer Android users a customized listening experience where they can subscribe to any audio podcast available on Google Play Music and listen for free, as well as support to listen to podcasts at faster playback speeds and skip silent parts.
The application also lets users discover the most recent episodes of their favorite podcasts, as well as new podcasts based on their preferences and listening history. Moreover, it supports the Google Home smart assistant, which can take over the playback of podcasts from where you left off on your Android device.
Google Podcasts connects to the Google Assistant personal voice assistant and the Google Search App to help users find their favorite podcasts. The application works on devices powered by Android 4.1 or later.
