Alongside the brand new Nexus phone that got unveiled today, Google also pushed out the final version Android 6.0 Marshmallow into the wild. The developer build has been available for testing for a few months, but it seems that Google saved some of the coolest features for today.

Right off the bat we notice that Google is placing a big emphasis on voice interactions in Android 6.0, by showcasing the multiple ways you can now control apps with your voice.

For example, when asking Android Marshmallow device to “Play NPR” the NPR One app will be conjured up. But that’s not all, Google Now will know to ask a follow-up question in order to find out what specifically you’d like to hear.

Other Marshmallow-y features that Google demoed on stage for the whole world to see include revamped notifications that drop down from the top of the screen, in the vein of iOS. The home screen also scrolls and searches faster.

Google has previously talked about Doze, but brought it up once again to highlight some of its much needed benefits which should bestow battery improvements to your Android device by placing the phone in a “deep sleep” mode when the its not use. Google said that with Doze active, the Nexus 5 will be able to benefit from up to 30% more battery life.

Another important feature to be mentioned is the revised app permission system, which allows users to have more control about the data apps have access to. For example you can approve or deny whether WhatsApp has access to you camera or location.

We shouldn’t forget about the new Now on Tap feature, which allows Google to be more helpful than before by providing you with more relevant information while you search.
