Google officially confirmed the name of the upcoming Android version as Marshmallow and launched a new developer preview for the new operating system.

This would be the third Android M developer preview released by Google, but it's also the last to be made available before the final build gets launched this fall.

Along with the final developer preview update, Google introduced the official Android 6.0 SDK and opened Google Play, so that developers can publish apps that target the new API level 23 in Android Marshmallow.

According to Google, the final Android 6.0 SDK is now available for download via the SDK Manager in Android Studio. The search giant also announced that Android 6.0 SDK will enable access to the final Android APIs and the latest build tools.

Among the most important changes in Android 6.0 Marshmallow final developer preview, there's a new boot animation, a new home for the System UI Tuner, new wallpapers, a brand-new 'Now on Tap' animation and Advanced App Management.

Google introduced new advanced options to the application management settings, which can be found in the Settings / Apps / Gear icon / Advanced.

With the 'Draw over other apps,' users will be able to give apps permissions to display on top of other apps while using them.

Additional small changes have been implemented as well

Other new options included are 'Modify system settings' and 'Battery optimization,' which enables users to grant permission to modify system settings, as well as set an application to optimize for more efficient battery consumption.

In order to get the final developer preview, you can now download the system images for supported Nexus devices, like Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player.

The device system images are now available for download via Google's developer preview website, but only for the Nexus devices mentioned earlier.

Also, just like the previous developer update, supported Nexus devices will receive an OTA (over the air) update over the next few days.

Keep in mind though that while the Android 6.0 SDK is final, the device system images are still developer preview versions.
