14 DAY TRIAL // Google is known for providing some of the best search solutions out there and the company has just announced that it will be introducing Cloud Search features to G Suite customers. Cloud Search will be replacing the service formerly known as Springboard.
The new search feature incorporates machine learning which provides a unified experience across all apps in the G Suite. The application will provide users with assist cards containing timely and relevant information so that users would reduce the time spent searching for various files. Usability and effectiveness increase with the number of cards.
Google mentioned that more and more companies choose to move their data and workloads to the cloud, as searching through internal information has become increasingly complex. Assist cards will help users prepare for upcoming meetings or get suggestions of files that they should check out.
Google will be adding more assist cards over time
Google has announced that it intends to expand this service over time, adding more assist cards and making it increasingly easier for users to get access to information.
Moreover, the new service allows users to search for people listed in the company’s directory. It will display details like contact info, events and files that they have in common. Users will be able to send emails, place calls or start a Hangouts chat with one tap.
In terms of privacy, Cloud Search abides by G Suite file sharing permissions, which means that users will be able to search only for the files that they have access to. Cloud Search will be rolling out globally to customers using the G Suite Business or Enterprise editions.
Google has announced that it intends to add integration with third-party applications in the near future. Cloud Search will be available for Android, iOS and on the web platform of G Suite.
