Motorola and Verizon have yet to announce the DROID Maxx 2, but Google thinks they have already done that. The smartphone recently appeared on Google's list of devices optimized for Android Screen casting.

Even though Google quickly pulled the name of the unannounced smartphone from its website, the folks over at Phandroid have managed for take a screenshot of the mistake and share it with the world.

Unfortunately, aside from the fact that DROID Maxx 2 will be a Verizon exclusive, the list where the name of the smartphone appears does not offer any additional details on availability and pricing options.

Still, we expect the Big Red to come forward with an official announcement by the end of the year if nothing wrong happens, as it did with the Xperia Z4v, which has just been canceled.

The good news is we already have some information on DROID Maxx 2's specs sheet, so the only things we're looking for now are a possible release date and price tag.

Lollipop or Marshmallow?

So, Motorola DROID Maxx 2 will ship with either Android 5.1.1 Lollipop or Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system right out of the box.

The smartphone was initially spotted with Lollipop on board, but since Google has already released Marshmallow, we should not rule out this possibility.

Hardware-wise, the DROID Maxx 2 is said to come with a 64-bit 1.7GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Also, the smartphone is rumored to pack a 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. Moreover, the DROID Maxx 2 should be powered by a larger 3,630mAh battery, which should provide great continuous usage time.

Last but not least, Motorola DROID Maxx 2 could feature a 21-megapixel rear-facing camera, while on the front, there should be a 5-megapixel camera for video calls and selfies.
