Google announced that its Google Home personal voice-controlled speaker powered by the Google Assistant intelligent personal assistant would soon launch in Australia and Germany.

On Thursday, July 20, Google Home will get an update that will activate a cute Aussie accent for Aussies, allowing them to manage their everyday tasks, turn up the music, get answers for all sort of questions, as well as to control the smart lights in their home or office with a simple "Ok Google."

Also tomorrow, Google is launching its Google Wifi program in Australia to give users seamless Internet coverage at home. According to Google, Google Home's Google Assistant will be able to speak and understand the Australian accent, so if you have such a device in your home, don't forget to update it.

"With a distinctly Aussie voice, your Assistant on Google Home speaks and understands your language," said Google in the blog announcement. "Ask it for brekkie ideas or where the nearest servo is. You can also ask it what sound a Kookaburra makes, and it’ll cue the laughter we all know and love."

Google Home to get German voice support on August 8, 2017

Also today, Google announced that its Google Home smart speaker would get German voice support in about three weeks from the moment of writing this article, on August 8, 2017. In addition, German-speaking users will get news from Google’s news partners in Germany, including Deutsche Welle, Deutschlandfunk, Giga, and n-tv.

At the moment Google Home only speaks English, as the device was launched in the United States and the United Kingdom, but, in time, we believe that Google plans to add support for more popular languages like Spanish or French. Until then, it will arrive for Aussies and Germans, so check out the promo videos below to see in action!
