Microsoft says it’s aware of the bug and working on a fix

The recently-released Windows 10 build 15019 comes with a long list of known issues, including a bug that makes it impossible for users to access a number of Google services, including Gmail.

The problem only affects Microsoft Edge browser, and Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, says that the team is already aware of the bug and working on a fix as we speak. Most likely, this fix will be implemented in the next build possibly coming later this week.

“Some Windows Insiders may have had trouble connecting to certain Google sites due to an implementation of a new security model being rolled out to further enhance user security. The team is working on a resolution. In the meantime, users can access these sites from an InPrivate tab,” she said.

In other words, if you’re also experiencing problems connecting to Google, Gmail, Google Maps, or any other Google service, the easiest way is to switch to an InPrivate tab or simply to another browser. The problem only affects Microsoft Edge browser.

Other Microsoft Edge problems

And speaking of Edge, there are also other problems in this build, including one that breaks down extensions. So in build 15019, Microsoft Edge extensions do not work and there is no workaround available just yet, with the company promising a fix in the next build.

“Extensions may appear to load but will not function as expected. This issue should be fixed in the next Insider release build we release. If you depend on extensions in Microsoft Edge, we recommend skipping this build,” Dona explained.

And last but not least, Microsoft Edge F12 tools might also fail to work correctly and could crash or fail to accept inputs, so if Edge is your main browser, you should really have all of these in mind when updating to build 15019. The next build is likely to be more stable and come with fixes for all of these, so it might be a good idea to skip this build for now.
