At least one Canadian carrier has confirmed the info

Google's Pixel smartphones are hard to come by, especially if ordered through carriers. The Mountain View company has been having supply issues since the launch of the Nexus 4.

For some reason, Google likes to keep supply on the low regardless of how high the demand really is, but that might not be the real reason why the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones are awfully hard to find.

Many Telus customers who ordered either of the two Pixel smartphones have received emails from the Canadian carrier, telling them they should not expect to receive their phones any longer since Google will soon cease production.

Please be advised that we have received notice today that Google will be ceasing production of their Google Pixel line and we will not be receiving further inventory of this phone. Therefore we will not be able to fulfill your order for the selected product. We apologize on behalf of TELUS and Google for this inconvenience.”

Google's Pixel line has been afflicted by numerous issues since they were launched on the market, something that hasn't happened with the previous devices released by the company.

Although many of these issues have been addressed via software updates, it looks like Google has decided to redirect its resources to other projects like Pixel 2.

For the time being, Telus is the only carrier that has started to send emails to customers who ordered the Pixel smartphones and are still waiting to receive them. Until other carriers confirm Telus' statement, we can't be 100% sure that Google will be ceasing production of Pixel line earlier than expected.

We'd also like to remind you that the Pixel phones are manufactured by HTC, so if there's anyone to blame for their faulty hardware, it's probably the Taiwanese company. We'll keep an eye out for any additional info on this one, so stay tuned.

UPDATE: The folks over at MobileSyrup have reached out to Telus for an official statement and the matter and it looks like Google's hasn't ceased production of either Pixel or Pixel XL.

We’re working with Google to restock inventory across our retail channels as quickly as we can. Google has confirmed that production of the Pixel and the Pixel XL has not stopped. We are in the process of updating our retail channels to ensure our customers have the latest information about their Google Pixel orders.”
