Google has just promoted the 45.0.2454.99 version of their Chrome web browser to the stable channel, with a single yet critical update: the addition of the new Flash Player 19 version.

"The stable channel has been updated to 45.0.2454.99 for Windows, Mac, and Linux," says Google's Vivian Zhi. "This release contains a critical update to Adobe Flash Player (19.0.0.185)."

As described by Adobe's engineers, Flash Player 19.0.0.185 is supposed to be snappier, and since Google has stamped their latest Chrome release with a "critical" tag, it also features a number of security bug fixes that are expected to make browsing the web safer.

As described by Adobe's engineers, Flash Player 19.0.0.185 patches 23 critical security flaws that would allow attackers to install malware on computers running an unpatched version of Flash.

Moreover, attackers could also use some of the fixed vulnerabilities to take control of their victim's system through an earlier Flash Player version.

The list of fixed bugs in Flash Player 19.0.0.185 includes memory leaks, stack overflow, security bypass, buffer overflow, memory corruption, as well use-after-free vulnerabilities to mention just a few of them.

According to Adobe the latest Flash Player release is known to contain fixes for vulnerabilities that are currently targeted, or have a high risk of being used by exploits in the wild.
