14 DAY TRIAL // The Google Camera port is being made available on a multitude of platforms, and it looks that Portrait Mode, one of the most coveted features, is finally working on Samsung Galaxy S7, S8, and Note 8.
As it stands right now, the Portrait Mode from the official Google Camera app that’s available with the Pixel 2 lineup is pretty much the most prominent feature, although it’s not the only one. In fact, there are quite a few other interesting options, but not many people seem to care about those.
Even if Google didn’t make an effort to allow other devices to run its Camera app on other devices, it doesn’t mean that the community can’t do anything about it. Soon after the application was made available with Pixel 2, people have started to port it or its features.
Better than everything else
What everyone will notice right away is that the quality of the images taken with the ported camera app is amazing. You would expect an improvement, but this is ridiculous. It’s true that a few tweaks are necessary after you install the app, but it’s nothing too complicated.

The best part about all of this is that no root access is necessary, although you have to keep in mind that this is by no means considered stable. It’s still a work in progress, and users might experience crashes and other issues, but nothing too bad.
Also, there is a small problem still remaining and the app will only work with the back camera, but it’s likely this problem will be fixed as well. Now, with the addition of Samsung devices to the long list of phones that can make use of the beautiful Portrait Mode, maybe it’s time for Google to take some steps and make it available for everyone in a more official manner.
