Users need to set up their devices again after a Google Accounts issue reset them to factory settings

Even giant companies such as Google fail at their job once in a while, such as last night when an issue with Google Accounts caused Google WiFi and OnHub routers to reset themselves.

This is obviously a great inconvenience for anyone relying on these devices, but correcting the problem is as easy as resetting them. On the other hand, more work needs to be done.

"They will, unfortunately, need to be set up again. This has not affected the software or performance of the device, but it does need to be re-setup," Google says in a statement.

Without it being too much of a surprise, users took to social media to complain about the situation, especially since the problem occurred in the middle of the work day for some people.

Google WiFi has received quite a few great reviews since its launch three months back, and users seem to have enjoyed it so far. This blunder isn't the best way to start off, but things like this happen sometimes.

Getting back online

The company has a dedicated support page set up which offers step-by-step instructions to get back online. According to Google, if you set up your WiFi with the same network name and password as before, your household connected devices should automatically reconnect.

There's also an alternative if you don't have the time to set up the devices right now, but still, need to get Internet access. And that's to connect to the setup WiFi network by using the network name and password printed on the base of your primary device.

At the very least, Google is all about presenting alternative solutions to those in need. Hopefully, everyone is back online by now and situations such as this one will never happen again. Ok, fine, let's hope they only happen rarely then.

Other problems have plagued Google these past few days as people using Android had issues with their accounts, while some iOS users have reported troubles logging into their email accounts.
