Google official hints at a possible release on iOS

The personal digital assistant market is very competitive, as it's not just handset makers that are trying to get a piece of the pie but also giants like Amazon. Google's Assistant, Apple's Siri, Microsoft's Cortana, Amazon's Alexa and soon Samsung's Bixby (or whatever the name) are fighting each other for market share.

It appears that Google will soon have the upper hand, as the search giant has announced its digital assistant will be rolled out to all supported handsets powered by Android Nougat and Marshmallow.

The move is meant to grab as much market share as possible before other major players in the industry could strike deals with handset manufacturers for the addition of their own AI's on their products.

But Google might not just stop here. A new report claims Google is seriously taking into consideration putting Google Assistant on the iPhone. Unfortunately, there's no clear answer to this rumor, just a vague statement from a Google official.

Geekster reports Google's product management director Gummi Hafsteinsson has said that his company has nothing to announce at this point in regard to the availability of Google Assistant on the iPhone, but that they “would like to have the Assistant available to as many people as possible.”

Could Apple really give up Siri in favor of its rival, Google Assistant? That seems very hard to believe at the moment, but not impossible.

Even though Google Assistant is considered by many more advanced than Apple's Siri, the latter features support for a lot more languages than the former.

Apple fans can already get a taste of Google Assistant if they're using Allo, since the application features limited integration with the personal digital assistant.

Google Assistant is currently available on the Pixel smartphones, but will soon be included on many other Android Nougat and Marshmallow handsets. The AI is also part of Android Wear 2.0, Google Home, and Android TV.
