Recently, Google brought a major change to its Google app on Android and iOS when it introduced tappable shortcuts. These would provide users with a much easier way to search and find information online.

Tappable shortcuts can be paired with a very interesting feature that Google has started to show to more and more users. We're talking about the Recent section, which the company has started testing in Google app and decided to make it available to more people.

The recent section is stored in the Google app and can be accessed from the side menu. However, in order to see your recent searches, you will need to enable the feature from under the Settings menu and the Accounts and Privacy.

Google’s Recent shows your browsing activity

Google says that Recent will allow you to “rediscover topics you looked for in the Google app recently.” It will make it easier to find a page that you’ve searched for a while back or compare products side by side. In addition, you can get rid of pages by simply swiping up, but that doesn’t mean that they will be deleted from under your Google account.

Moreover, the Recent section groups pages from the same search and displays the newest ones first. It also gives you access to your Google account activity and lets you filter searches by day or product. It shows how many searches you performed in any given day and lets you edit your activity in many ways. Only you can see information under your account.

The new Recent section was tested for quite some time, even before Google introduced Offline Searches earlier this year. This feature allows users to store Google searches offline and get the results when network connection is available. It’s quite useful when you’re on the go and encounter spotty connections.
