Google just held an important event in San Francisco and announced a new VR headset, named Daydream View. There are many interesting aspects about this new headset worth mentioning, including a very requested and welcome remote.

There have been some rumors stating that Google will be launching a VR headset that could be used with its virtual reality platform, Daydream, and it seems that they were accurate. The headset will work together with the newly announced Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones.

As for the materials used, Daydream View is manufactured from fabric rather than hard plastic. The company worked with multiple clothing producers on creating the fabric and will make the headset available in three colors, Snow, Slate and Crimson. Moreover, the device weighs just 220 grams and comes with a replaceable face mask that can be hand-washed.

The headset comes with a white controller

The Daydream View was designed in such a way to make it more comfortable to users and it comes with a reduced number of straps and clips. In addition, the headset doesn’t require users to take off their glasses.

Pixel smartphones will be Daydream-ready and Google has announced that several phones from other manufacturers will be certified too. The company has also revealed that a Harry Potter VR experience will be made available on the day of the launch, and Google is also working with Hulu and Netflix on providing content to users.

Google’s Daydream View comes with a remote filled with all sort of sensors that would help detect the movements of users. The remote can be stored inside the VR headset so that users wouldn’t lose it. The controller comes with two buttons - the home button and one that gives users access to the menu - and motion controls. It also has a clickable trackpad on the end and volume buttons on one side.

The Daydream VR platform was announced in May during the I/O conference and the tech giant already created a developer program, which it launched last month. Daydream View will be made available in November for the price of just $79.
