During the Google I/O keynote, the Mountain View tech giant announced a slew of new features that should arrive to a number of Google products, including Photos. Google introduced three new ways in which Photos users can share and receive pictures from their friends.

Google announced suggested sharing for Photos users, which will solve a problem that many people have faced, forgetting to share the group photo with the people that are actually in it. Google Photos suggested sharing excuses users from having to ask friends to send them the photo.

Google uses machine learning to identify people in images and searches the gallery to find the images that users could share with a specific friend. Afterward, the feature provides users with suggestions of sharing images with the people that are actually in them. Then, users simply need to tap send and they can even get a reminder to get images from their friends.

The new feature is visible in the Sharing tab, and will be made available on Android, iOS and even the web Photos version in the coming weeks.

Google Photos receives Shared Libraries

Aside from suggested sharing, Google also introduced Shared Libraries to Google Photos as a new way for users to share images with friends or partners. Shared Libraries allows users to easily and automatically send and receive images from another user.

Google Photos will allow users to grant full access to the photo gallery to another person, or restrict access to pictures from a certain date or with certain people. Shared images can be automatically saved and users can create albums with them. Shared Libraries will arrive to Android, iOS and the web in the coming weeks.

Lastly, Google introduced Photo Books, which allows users to actually print their images. Photo Books are created easily using Google’s powerful search technology that can organize images based on people, places or things. It also removes duplicates and poor quality images. Shared Libraries will be available in the US on the web and on Android and iOS next week. Prices start at $9.99 for a 20-page softcover book and $19.99 for a hardcover book.
