14 DAY TRIAL // Today, Google announced a new feature that will be implemented in its Maps application on Android, iOS and the desktop version. The new feature will allow users to share their real-time location with friends and family.
In order to share your location, you simply need to open the side menu or tap the blue dot that pin-points your current location in Google Maps. Then, you need to tap on the “Share location” option and select the people that you would like to receive information of your whereabouts.
You can send your location to Google contacts, or share a link on messenger applications installed on your phone. When a location is shared, receivers will be able to view your exact location on the map. There’s also an icon above the compass, reminding you that the location was shared. In order to avoid any privacy issues, you can stop sharing your location at any time.

This is not all, Google also added the feature to the navigation section, so that you can share your location and let people know your estimated arrival time. They can also follow you toward your destination.
Google has announced that location sharing on Maps will start rolling out worldwide soon, for both Android and iOS apps, as well as the desktop platform.
The new feature does come in handy when checking to see if a friend arrived safely home or when you want to let your friends know what you’re up to.
