14 DAY TRIAL // Google has just announced the introduction of a major feature for mobile users, the option to get suggestions of local events when typing in certain keywords in the Google Search app. The functionality is currently available only in the US.
Whenever users type in certain keywords in their Google Search app on Android and iOS, or the Google Search mobile website, they will receive suggestions of events nearby their current location. Google says that the suggestions come from websites like Meetup and Eventbrite, providing ideas of activities that can be conducted in various cities across the US.
Users simply need to type in keywords which include the date, type of activity and location. They will get suggestions like concerts, art galleries, shows and many more.
Google Search shows events near your location
The event title, date, time and location are displayed, and users can even type on the “more events” option to get additional suggestions. Tap on an event suggestion and Google opens up more details and the option to buy tickets directly from the website.
Google also added the option to search for events over different periods of time by simply accessing filters like today, tomorrow and next week. Moreover, users can find events near their current location by typing in the phrase “events near me.”
The new feature is available only in the US for now, and it’s unclear when it will arrive to users in other countries. Most likely, it won’t be long until Google rolls it out to Android and iOS users from all over the world.
Recently, Google added a set of enhanced features for offline use of Chrome on Android, tools that allow users to download pages even if their Internet connection is down. The feature also allows users to browse through downloaded pages or check out the pages that are waiting to be downloaded as soon as Internet connection is available.
