The development team in charge of the open-source Gnumeric spreadsheet editor software used in numerous GNU/Linux distributions announced the immediate availability for download of Gnumeric 1.12.23.

According to the release notes, which we have attached at the end of the article for reference, Gnumeric 1.12.23 brings with it noteworthy features like fuzzed file hardening and solver refactoring, as well as numerous other improvements and bug fixes, especially for the OpenDocument Format (ODF) file format.

"The Gnumeric Team is pleased to announce the availability of Gnumeric version 1.12.23. This release requires the concurrently released Goffice 0.10.23. Noteworthy news in this release include fuzzed file hardening and solver refactoring," reads the announcement.

Looking at the changelog, we can notice that Gnumeric 1.12.23 improves the import and export functionality of page layouts from or to the ODF file format, adds better ODF import support, improves the CONVERT function, adds support for importing reference unions from ODF files, and addresses the import of name expressions from ODF files.

Furthermore, the import of plot area manual layout from XLSX files has been repaired, out of bounds read was fixed, various memory leaks were plugged, the solver code has been refactored, GROWTH now works correctly, a CSV issue with invalid UTF-8 data was patched, and a memory handling error with fuzzed sxc files has been fixed.

Many other issues have been resolved in Gnumeric 1.12.23

There are many other issues resolved in Gnumeric 1.12.23, such as with import and export of graph backplane, export of unlabelled axes, export of rotated axis labels, saving of marker styles from XLSX files, import of header and footer from XLSX files, a crash when saving XLSX files related to shared strings, and named expressions.

Moreover, the new maintenance release of Gnumeric 1.12 resolves a problem with saving of XLSX files due to characters being outside codepage, fixes an XLSX namespace issue, restricts TABLE to array context, protects database functions against malformed databases, and makes the solver to check the linearity of models.

Last but not least, the CONFIDENCE.T, PERCENTILE.EXC, MODE.MULT, QUARTILE.EXC, and PERCENTRANK.EXC components have been added, and the application can now be successfully compiled against Clang. There are over 65 other miscellaneous bug fixes. Download Gnumeric 1.12.23 right now from Softpedia.
