The developers behind the GnuCash Project were happy to announce this past weekend the immediate availability for download of the tenth maintenance release in the GnuCash 2.6 series, bringing all sorts of improvements, updated translations, and numerous bugfixes.

GnuCash 2.6.10 was released for all supported operating systems, including GNU/Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows. According to the release notes (attached at the end of the article for reference), it squashes over 15 bugs that had been reported by users or discovered by the GnuCash developers since the previous release of the software.

"If you are updating from GnuCash 2.6.0-2.6.4 on Linux, you are advised to remove the guile user cache or several parts of gnucash may fail to work properly. This user cache can be found in .cache/guile/ccache/2.0-LE-8-2.0/ in your home directory. It's safe to remove the whole contents of this directory," said the GnuCash developers.

What else is new in GnuCash

Besides bugfixes, GnuCash 2.6.10 adds various documentation for developers, implements a new account chart for Dutch small businesses, adds some performance improvements to the Cash Flow report, adds a workaround for the System Integrity Protection of Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan, and improves the revert action.

Furthermore, the automatic inversion process of prices under 1.0 has been reverted, which should resolve some regressions introduced in the GnuCash 2.6.8 and 2.6.9 releases. Also, there's now a more generic mechanism that can be used to set the sensitivity of the Save action, as well as for the Revert action.

Last but not least, the tenth maintenance release of GnuCash updates the Arabic and German language translations, and adds support for the Portuguese (Portugal) translation. Download GnuCash 2.6.10 for GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems right now from Softpedia.
