The Nautilus file manager is not the only GNOME component that received new exciting features and improvements during the development cycle of the upcoming GNOME 3.22 desktop environment.

And today, we would like to inform our readers about some of the new features coming to the Polari IRC client, which is currently in the Beta stages of development. Polari 3.22 Beta 2 has been released for public testing earlier, as announced by its maintainer Florian Müllner.

As you might already know, Polari is a simple IRC Client designed from the ground up to integrate seamlessly with the latest GNOME 3 desktop environment, and the upcoming major release promises interesting additions, such as support for NickServ passwords, as well as support for externally configured channels, which some of you will call autojoin.

New "Connect" item has been added to the room list header menu

Among other noteworthy features that will land in Polari 3.22 later this month is the addition of a "Connect" item to the room list header menu, the ability to switch channels immediately after a user action, better support for predefined networks, along with improvements to persistent notifications.

Being a development snapshot and all that, the second Beta build of Polari 3.22 also includes lots of other minor bugfixes and updated translations, so we recommend you to study the full changelog attached below if you're curious to know what exactly has been changed.

In the meantime, we invite you to download Polari 3.22 Beta 2 (technical version number is 3.21.91) right now via our website, compile it for your GNU/Linux distribution and report bugs if you encounter them. As usual, please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, not suitable for use in production environments.
