Another application from the GNOME Stack, GNOME Games, is getting improvements as part of the GNOME 3.22 development cycle, and a second preview build is now ready for public testing.

GNOME Games developer Adrien Plazas has recently announced the release of GNOME Games 3.21.2, the second milestone towards the GNOME Games 3.22 major update of the open-source application designed for GNOME/Linux gamers who want a neat tool to organize their game libraries.

GNOME Games can also be used to browse and launch games from your library, and the new development release promises to support Atari 2600 and Atari 7800 titles, as well as to inform users when they are attempting to quit a game that cannot be restored at a later time.

Among other interesting changes implemented in the GNOME Games 3.21.2 release, we can mention support for displaying icons for Nintendo DS games and titles created with the LÖVE free 2D game engine, support for the latest GTK+ GUI toolkit, better rendering of SNES titles, as well as the ability for users to add simple game types.

GNOME Games 3.22 is coming later this year as part of GNOME 3.22

Last but not least, GNOME Games no longer supports custom game types. If you're eager to take the new development build, GNOME Games 3.21.2, for a test drive, you can download the sources right now via our website. However, please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, which might contain bugs.

The final release of GNOME Games 3.22 will be distributed later this year as part of the GNOME 3.22 desktop environment, which will hit the streets on September 21, 2016. For more details about the changes implemented in GNOME Games 3.21.2, please check the appended changelog.

In related news, we've reported earlier that the GNOME Calendar application is getting support for moving events using drag and drop and a new Week View, and that some of the GNOME developers are working on redesigning the GNOME Control Center app.
