14 DAY TRIAL // The GNOME Calendar app is getting a lot of attention lately, especially now that it has been integrated by default into the Ubuntu Linux operating system, but also because the development cycle of the GNOME 3.22 desktop environment is ongoing.
We reported a few days ago that the second snapshot, version 3.21.2, of the GNOME 3.22 desktop environment, due for release later this year, on September 21, 2016, was released to public beta testers and early adopters, bringing various improvements to its core applications and components.
But it looks like the development team behind the GNOME Calendar app didn't participate right away in the GNOME 3.21.2 milestone, so they announce the availability of GNOME Calendar 3.21.2 three days later, on May 31, 2016, a release that introduces numerous enhancements to the Month and Calendar views.
Users can now change the Month View using their keyboards
As usual, we've managed to get our hands on the internal changelog so that we can tell you all about the new features implemented so far in the upcoming GNOME Calendar 3.22 software. So we'll start with the Month View enhancements as users are now able to change the month using nothing but their keyboard.
Additionally, users can now reschedule events using drag and drop in the Month View, a very useful functionality that has also been implemented in the Year View, as well as the ability to view a month's events by clicking on the month's name. Talking about the Year View, its navigation has received some major optimizations.
There are other noteworthy changes included in GNOME Calendar 3.21.2, such as updates to the CSS files to comply with the latest GTK+ 3.21 toolkit, header capitalization fixes, and support for the "Today" button to be insensitive when viewing the current day.
These and many other improvements will be available later this year in the GNOME Calendar 3.22 application, which will be released as part of the GNOME 3.22 desktop environment.
