Now that the GNOME 3.22 desktop environment got its first point release, some of the applications distributed as part of the GNOME Stack are getting updated to the 3.22.1 milestone.

This is the case with the GNOME Builder app, an open-source software project designed for application developers who want to build apps for the GNOME Stack, using the latest GTK+ 3 technologies, of course. Version 3.22.1 of GNOME Builder has been released recently, and we'd like to tell you all about the improvements and bug fixes implemented.

Let's start with the new features, as GNOME Builder 3.22.1 adds support for Sysprof Visualizers, which requires the Sysprof 3.22.1 utility, as well as support for running various GJS (JavaScript binding for GNOME) projects using the autotools package. "In particular we try to discover the “GJS template” Makefile.am style," said the devs in the internal release notes (attached at the end of the article).

Hebrew language improvements, GUI enhancements, and more

Moreover, the first point release of GNOME Builder 3.22 further polishes the graphical user interface (GUI), adds better widget layout support for RTL (Right-to-Left) languages like Hebrew, introduces failed, recording, and empty states to the Sysprof plugin, makes use of the GtkNativeFileChooser widget by default, and supports loading of both system- and user-installed Flatpak runtimes.

Last but not least, GNOME Builder 3.22.1 ships with various build system improvements, in particular for the macOS Sierra 10.12 platform, better gettext support for Python plugins, support for the "getent passwd" command to fetch the current passwd identifying the preferred user shell, as well as better support for small screens for the Preferences dialog. Lots of translations have been updated as well.
